Guided Walks - See the Real Cornwall
Every day of the week we run guided walks in West Cornwall. They are two to four hours long, feature the most interesting and beautiful spots of the region and are a great way to learn a little bit more about this fascinating peninsula. We also offer walks for private groups and easy evening historical walks.
Everyone Welcome
Our day time walks tend to focus on the magical stone monuments that punctuate Penwith’s (West Cornwall’s) moors and coastline. Quoits, stone circles and burial chambers are found in greater abundance here than perhaps anywhere else in the British Isles and we take you on a tour through time. We have quoits (also called dolmans) from the Stone Age, standing stones from the Bronze Age, Celtic ruins and tin mines abandoned in the last century. Do these mysterious stones mark the graves of ancient warriors or do they tell tales of giants that once ruled the land? Archaeology and folklore play equal parts in Cornwall’s past and we’ll give you a bit of both.
With a detailed knowledge of local history and a twinkle in the eye we offer you a relaxed, interesting and invigorating walk across West Cornwall. Join us.

Where
We offer a wide range of circular walks but our most popular ones are listed below:
Chun Castle: Overlooking the spectacular north coast lie the Iron Age hill fort of Chun castle, its 6000 year old neighbour ,Chun Quoit, and the serene remains of a Celtic Village nestled in the valley below.
Monuments and moors: Visit Cornwall’s most famous and mysterious stone monuments: Men-an-tol, Lanyon Quoit, the Nine Maidens Stone Circle and Ding Dong mine. Spectacular windswept scenery and 3000 years of history in less than two square miles.
The Cape: A stunning stretch of coastline on the West coast that leads us through a story of abandoned mines and cliff top castles, ancient graves and treacherous seas.
Carn Euny: We investigate the excellent Iron Age Village at Carn Euny and its spooky fogou (underground chamber), catch our breath at the top of Caer Bran hill fort and test out the healing powers of an ancient Celtic Well.
How to get there
Our start locations are all listed on the individual walks mentioned above but when you call we can provide you with directions, a GPS reference or OS gird reference. Some people prefer not to drive however, in which case we organize transfers to and from the walk at an extra cost. This tends to make life easier (no getting lost, no parking, no worries) and many find that the extra cost is worth every penny. Again, just call us if you would like further details.
Evening Walks
Once a week in the high season (June to August) we organize historical guided tours in St Ives, Penzance and Hayle. These evening tours a great chance to stretch your legs, enjoy the evening air and learn something new. Please contact us for details.
Private Groups
If you prefer your own guided walk without the company of strangers, you can book a private walk. This way we can tailor the walk to your interest, fitness and the time you wish to spend out and about. From two hours up to a full eight hour day exploring the moors, valleys, coasts and tracks of West Cornwall, you can enjoy the knowledge of our top guides.
The price for private guided walks starts at £30 for 2 hours, with £10 an hour for any time over this. If your group is 4 or more, this actually works out cheaper per person than the open walk (£7.50 compared to £8 per person). Again, transport is not included in this price.
